Rollercoasters? You Betcha!

hell's coders
Edit: It's going to have to be a different day because I just found out that's a bank holiday so the place won't be quiet after all. Also, I genuinely don't understand why Birmingham (2 hours 45 mins) is a perfectly acceptable place to go just to eat lunch, but a day trip to alton towers (3 hours 15 minutes) is considered too much effort.

I'm planning a trip to Alton Towers on ***. Anyone who wants to come along is welcome to join me.

In other news, this morning I handed my dissertation in for binding. I'd like to report that I'm feeling giddy and exhilarated, but all I can manage is crushing anxiety about the group project I'm starting tomorrow.

You're planning on travelling there and back in the same day too?

Um, yes. Just how much spare time do you think I have?

I just thought that 3 and a half hours there, 3 and a half back is going to be a busy day for whoever's driving...

Hmm if it's going to entail 7 hours of sitting in a car over the course of the day then I think I'll pass.

's alright, I was going to drive. I'll probably enjoy doing that more than going on big rollercoasters anyway :-)

Incidentally, I can understand not doing it all in one day when one has family not (too) far away that one can impose on, but what on earth were the rest of you planning on doing? :-p

Hi,

If you're planning to go there it may be worth knowing that Alton Towers' operator Merlin Entertainments Group Ltd. are offering a lot of 2for1 deals at many of their attractions (Altons Towers included). Just a thought...

Have fun if you go.

I got given a load of 2for1 vouchers at smiths last month. That was what made me originally think about it.

That will be one epic driving day. I know this because I live within hiking distance of the place and will be glad to meet you there. There are trains and buses too, bien sur, if you don't want to drive, but that'd take even longer so probably not a good option.

To be fair we were planning to go for more than just lunch, there's also lots of shops to look around. But even the long trip to Brum is rather tiring and this trip would be an hour longer overall and no doubt require a lot of standing in queues for protracted periods. I'm just not a big enough rollercoaster fan I guess :)

Lunch takes about half an hour. Going to a theme park for half an hour isn't really worth it, so to maximize the time we spend there we'd have to leave at early'o'clock and come back at very'late'o'clock... plus of course the 7 hours of driving.

I'm up for it.

Rollercoasters yay!

Just let me know when you're thinking of heading across. Granted this is a little late in the day to reply.

(I've been very bad at basically anything the last couple of weeks.)

Congrats on the Diss!! Hope the group project is going ok.
